Plant Sale at Harry P. Leu Gardens

Today started the 2 day annual Plant Sale at Harry P. Leu Gardens.

Being members we had the advantage to get in an hour early. This means by the time the crowds start rushing in, we were able to walk around the entire sales and I had done my shopping.

Every year I get a new Phaius variety. They do so well in the garden. I love the flowers in the spring and the large quilted looking leaves look pretty enough for the rest of the year. This year I bought Phaius Microburst 'Orchtoberfest'

This is a small Anthurium hookeri 'Ruffles', since I have good results with the Anthurium eggersii, I will give this one a try.

This Dendrobium caught my eye, the larger display plant had the canes hanging down over the its basket. Sorry to say this seller never knows the names of the plants he is selling.  I am guessing it is a Dendrobium nobile variety.

Hubby bought three swamp plants for the pond area, he loves carnivorous plants.

hmm, not sure what this one is, but it looks cute:

I especially like the red sundew, when it catches the sun, it looks like sparkling jewels.

I did not buy all that much, even though there were many beautiful plants available. Sadly, space in Myrtle Glen is limited.

  2. It's hard to resist a plant sale. It's also a great excuse to go to Leu Gardens. (I've only been once when I was in Orlando.) It's still brown in Santa Fe, nice to see some vibrant colors.

  4. I often discover new plants and want to add them to the garden but then find there is no place for them. Being a gardener has its temptations. Your blooms are lovely.
