• Gardening in Avalon Park, Orlando Florida

     

     

     

    This blog category is written with the Gardening Friends in Avalon Park in mind.  Avalon Park is a large, young subdivision on the east side of Orlando, Florida.

     

    It sure is different to garden here than elsewhere in Florida, Avalon Park is in the Econlockhatchee  River bed area and the soil is heavy blue clay and not the sandy soil we know from most parts of this state. Any plants wanting good drainage won’t be too happy here. The added Builders’ dirt and buried construction waste is not helping our gardening efforts either.

     

    Plants need good soil, and I have great success with creating plant beds the lazy way.
