This blog category is written with the Gardening Friends in Avalon Park in mind. Avalon Park is a large, young subdivision on the east side of Orlando, Florida.
It sure is different to garden here than elsewhere in Florida, Avalon Park is in the Econlockhatchee River bed area and the soil is heavy blue clay and not the sandy soil we know from most parts of this state. Any plants wanting good drainage won’t be too happy here. The added Builders’ dirt and buried construction waste is not helping our gardening efforts either.
Plants need good soil, and I have great success with creating plant beds the lazy way.
In time I will keep adding gardening information, hopefully valuable to the residents of Avalon Park:
Fall/Winter Care for St. Augustine Grass in Central Florida
Spring/Summer Care for St. Augustine Grass in Central Florida
About composting for a small yard
Rainwater barrels made easy
I invite you to browse through the plants category for plants I grow successful in my garden here in Avalon Park.
Of course I am always glad to hear from you, your comments, questions and suggestions:
