Thought for the weekend

“I have a very simple arrangement with my plants:

I give them love and they give me flowers.”

Thought for the weekend

A wild and crazy weekend for me is

sitting on the beach, reading a good book,

 and sipping a coco loco.

Coco Cay is a tiny island used exclusively by Royal Caribbean Cruiseline and a stop on their weekend cruise to Nassau.
The floating bar in the picture is a recent edition to the island and super fun to hang out, sip a Coco Loco and chat with fellow cruisers.

For my part, I know nothing with any certainty,
but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

Thought for the Weekend

No two gardens are the same.
No two days are the same in one garden.

Alpinia henryi 'Pink Perfection' (Alpinia hainanensis)

'Pink Perfection' is smaller than A. zerumbet, it grows around 6 ft tall. Its flowers resemble the flowers of A. zerumbet but the color is a richer pink

"I was just sittin' here, enjoyin' the company. Plants got a lot to say, if you take the time to listen."

Thought for the Weekend

The trouble with gardening is that it does not remain an avocation.

It becomes an obsession.

"A single Rose can be my garden ...

A single friend, my world."

[Leo Buscaglia]

‘Fairy’ rose
A beautiful, easy to grow miniature rose. Thanks to my friend Kristin who shared some cuttings, this cute rose is now growing and flowering in Myrtle Glen.

Thought for the weekend

But friendship is precious, not only in the shade,

but in the sunshine of life; and ...

the greater part of life is sunshine.

Thought for the weekend

The Leaf’s Lament

Said the leaf to the sky,
I would learn how to fly,
But I’m shaking like a leaf do I dare?

Said the sky to the leaf,
It’s a matter of belief
Just jump into my blanket of air!

Then the sky sang,
Then the leaf sprang,
And the trees were empty and bare.

Quote for the Weekend

All plants are our brothers and sisters. They talk to us and if we listen, we can hear them.

Arapaho proverb

Angelwing Begonia 'Brazilian Lady'

It's foliage is beautiful, dark green with light green veins and the leaf underside is a stunning maroon color. The soft and fuzzy leaves beg to be touched  ;)

The small white flowers have a pink hue, but are not all that spectacular.
