Tropical Hydrangea - Dombeya wallichii

Dombeya wallichii

One of my favorite plants!

The huge leaves are soft and fuzzy and the pink flowers smell deliciously like sugar cookies :)

This plant is a fast growing shrub and starts to flower in mid December here in Central Florida. The huge pink flower balls are pendulous (like holiday ornaments) and do look a lot like mophead hydrangea flowers.
Also known as 'Pink Ball'

Bees love the blooms.

Dombeya  flowers December through January, is a low maintenance plant, requires no special soil but wants at least 6 hours of sun. This plant is not frost tolerant, but will grow back fast after a freeze!
