This year's 9th Annual Mt. Dora Garden Tour was on Sunday, Nov. 4 2012.
Five gardens were showcased, all in walking distance of each other in the old town of Mt. Dora in Central Florida.
A neat idea to hide an unsightly wall of the neighbor's garage, a vertical garden wall:
Garden number 2 has shade loving plantings, ferns, elephant ears, philodendron
The home owners built this deck themselves, and peeking through the lush vegetation you can see Lake Dora
Garden number 3 has a unique terraced vegetable garden
Garden number 4 is like a woodland park, perfectly manicured, plenty of new mulch, and freshly planted with hydrangeas, roses, foliage plants.
The last Garden on the tour, number 5, has an old, dominating oak tree in the front yard
The high shade due to this oak is just perfect for ferns and a bromeliad collection
On towards the back yard, cute fall decorations greeted the visitors
This back yard must have had hundreds of potted plants grouped everywhere. I shudder by the thought of having to water all those pots
Any container, old and new, had something growing in them:
I especially liked this sitting area:
Thank you to all home owners for opening their gardens to all of us visitors. I sure appreciate it!
