This Passionvine is a volunteer. Where I had planted it originally, on the opposite side of the yard, it did not want to grow. I guess the roots just keep wandering, looking for that perfect spot.

Passiflora Incense

So now it grows where it not really should grow. There is a Bougainvillea planted to grow over the back porch, and a Dutchman's Pipe vine covers the pergola supplying much-needed shade for the orchids, but who am I to tell the plants where they can or cannot grow.

The large, purple passionflowers are a showstopper, that's for sure. And a close-up shows the weirdness, if it were to spin around and around, it could be a carnival ride for bugs.

This flower is way up on top of the pergola, I had not seen the little lizard curiously looking down on me when I snapped the picture

But most importantly, the butterflies found the vine, and their caterpillars are happily munching leaves and stems and all.

May is the perfect month for me, the temperature is perfect, the daily rains did not start yet, all plants are happy and I am happy, too.
