is it harmless?

oh lookie, a bloom on one of my orchids a generous gardening friend shared with me:

Bulbophyllum putidum

now take a closer look:



oh dear! shaggy hair, long ears, large tongue ....

"come here, little kitty...."

"My, what big teeth you have!" ....

pah! completely harmless. I still have all my fingers and toes :-)

This easy orchid flowers in autumn, likes low light and high humidity.... Still, I wonder WHY does it looks so dangerous? One would think this look scares away the little  flies wanting to aid with pollination
