Busy Springtime

Finally! It took a while for a wren couple to move in. For the longest time the wren house was occupied by frogs. I believe they are Carolina Wrens, someone correct me if I am wrong.

Online I read the Caroline Wrens are the only year-long residents of Central Florida and that they are territorial. Well, the male wren is certainly announcing his territory very loudly throughout the day.

It is already April, and we are still keeping to ourselves, but it is easy to forget time in Myrtle Glen. Either by being lazy and watching birds, weeding around the flowers or by redesigning the pond.

Here's the best spot to be lazy, in the far corner of the garden in our sunken terrace.

The different Iris, Amaryllis and Nun's Orchids (Phaius tankervilleae) are flowering throughout the yard.

And to keep busy, we decided to re-design our water garden area.

It will take a while, but the plan is to have one larger pond instead of three connected smaller ponds. Let's hope it works out as I envision this project.

Happy Springtime!
