Wake me up when September ends

 

Seriously! this month is so bad. I am feeling so sorry for everyone suffering under hurricane Sally. Central Florida got off easy with just a ton of rain, heavy cloud cover and humidity so high one does not know if to breath or swallow.

Nope. not going outside but for a couple minutes to snap some pictures of the brave plants flowering right now.

The Aechmea blanchetiana is flowering, finally. I was waiting for this to happen for a couple years. Top right is Aechmea distichanta and below is Aechmea Del Mar. Del Mar is a trooper, flowering in all corners of Myrtle Glen, also very prolific, one plant produces between four and six pups.

Besides the Hedychium Dr. Moy, Sherry Baby, Luna Moth, Carnival and H. coronarium, the Blue Ginger (not a ginger, though) shines with a few flowers.

A bit late in the year, the Plumeria 'Irma Bryan' decided to bloom. Not sure why my plumies were sulking all year long. 

The tacca is flowering again, still a bit too early, maybe I'll get more flowers towards Halloween. And the obedient plant keeps blooming, hopefully it does not mind the flooded back yard too much. 

A few more colors, the pink turks cap, Anthurium 'white lady', red lily gloriosa, and the yellow Zephyranthes citrina.
