Yes, 14 years for this little guy to move to Myrtle Glen!
This gecko is not a Florida native, my best guess, it is the Indo-Pacific Gecko - Hemidactylus garnotii. Geckos are nocturnal, moon lizards, they sleep during the day and hunt for insects at night around porch lights. These little guys are not dangerous, they are not venomous and certainly don't bite.
glückwunsch ich freue mich für euch
ReplyDeleteich hoffe das er bei euch bleibt
Man kann nie genug geckos haben, sind sehr nuetzliche Tierchen
DeleteVery cute! We used to have little green anole lizards when we lived in North Carolina that I just loved to see out and about in the garden. Here I haven't seen any lizards, though occasionally I'll find a salamander hiding under a rock.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in the Orlando area since 1969 moved up from Miami and I have had geckos at my house here in East Orlando they come whenever I turn the bathroom light on and I leave the light on just so that they can feed and eat the insects that are around I had one that was in my house for the longest time I would say maybe a year or two that lived in my house I made no attempt to remove it because it stayed near the roof or ceiling in my house and never bothered anyting I never found any fecal mess that it would have made and if it eats I'm sure it has to go to the bathroom but it probably went any where it wanted to LOL I was just wondering about the lifespan of a gecko it was just solid one color like a light skin tone and I called it my bathroom buddy God blessed us with some wonderful creatures thank whoever reads this thank you and God bless you as well!!!
ReplyDeletehi there /waving from East Orlando/ thanks for posting and saying hello :-)
DeleteWe leave the coach lights on, part for the geckos part for security. A few weeks ago we had 3 very small geckos in the living room, I assume babies, but those we caught and relocated to the back porch. With cats inside, their lives would have been short.
